Directions to Jim Thorpe River Adventures

From Northern New Jersey/New York, and Route 80 (2 1/2 hours from New York City & Upper New Jersey):

Take Route 80 West through New Jersey into Pennsylvania. From NJ/PA border, you will travel approximately 31.5 miles. Take Exit 284 – Blakeslee. Turn left onto Rte. 115 South – Brodheadsville/Lake Harmony. Continue on Rte. 115 for 2.1 miles. Turn right onto PA-903 South. Stay on this for 17.2 miles. At mile 10.1, you will pass our esteemed competition-keep going. You will come down the mountain and enter the little town of Jim Thorpe. To your right at mile 16.1, you will see the Jim Thorpe Memorial. At mile 17.2, you will be turning right. This right turn is not obvious. Prior to the turn, you will see a brown state park sign on your right for “Lehigh Gorge State Park Glen Onoko” pointing to the right AND a big yellow arrow pointing to the left for 903 South. You will be turning right at that big yellow arrow. Turn right. It is a sharp turn. If you look up to the right, you will see a cell phone tower disguised as a flag pole. That is in our parking lot. Go down the hill, around the bend, and then up the hill approximately 4/10th of a mile. Make your second right into our parking lot. You will see the Jim Thorpe River Adventure sign.

 

From Philadelphia, Montgomery/Bucks & points south (1 1/2 hours from Philadelphia):

Take 476 North (NE Extension of the PA Turnpike) to Exit 74 – Mahoning Valley. Pay toll, then bear left taking 209 South. At second traffic light, make right and follow 209 South. You are on 209 for approximately 4.2 miles. Follow 209 through the town of Lehighton and the village of Packerton. You will then go down a big hill into the little town of Jim Thorpe. At the traffic light in the center of town, make a right continuing on 209 South (aka Lehigh Avenue). Next, you will see a brown state park sign “Lehigh Gorge State Park Access Point” on your right. At the next traffic light, turn right onto PA-903 North (3/10th of a mile). At the end of the bridge, bear to the left. At the stop sign, stop and put on your left blinker. If you look up to the right, you will see a cell phone tower disguised as a flag pole. That is in our parking lot. Go down the hill, around the bend, and then up the hill approximately 4/10th of a mile. Make your second right into our parking lot. You will see the Jim Thorpe River Adventure sign.

 From Central NJ, Brooklyn, Staten Island, and Route 78 (2 hours from Central New Jersey):

Take Route 78 West through NJ into Pennsylvania. 78 passes south of Easton, Bethlehem, and takes a northerly turn in Allentown. Pass exits for Lehigh Street, Tilghman Street, then take 309 North toward Route 22. Take Route 22 West for one exit to Route 476 (NE Extension of the PA Turnpike). Take Route 476 North one exit to Exit 74 – Mahoning Valley. Pay toll, then bear left taking 209 South. At second traffic light, make right and follow 209 South.
